Steam Press does not heat up
Fault finding problem, why is my steam press not heating up?
What to check first.
- Press not plugged into the wall outlet - Check the poswer lead is pushed in to the wall socket.
- Has the power lead to the machine become loose - Check the power lead socket is pushed fully into position. Push, and even wiggle it slightly while pushing the socket into the socket on the steam presss body.
- Some presses have a on/off power switch. It will be close to the lead connection. Check it has a solid click, while moving it from on to the off position.
- Temperature has not been selected - Turn temperature dial to appropriate heat setting.
- Leaving the press switch on and, if not being used, it will trip the automatic safety. The press will switch its self off, if not used for 8 to 15 minutes. Switch off, and on again, and try ironing again.
- If all the above have been tried, and the press lights are on, but it is still not heating up. The problem may be because the heating elements have a short, or the heating control unit has become damaged. If this is the case, I would advise you to contact one of our engineers for further investigation.
