Singer Confidence 7470 Sewing Machine

Singer has a reputation which has last lasted many years. Singer produce sewing machines of exceptional quality and reliability. This latest version Singer 7470 is no exception. It is a computerised sewing machine with over 170 stitches, memory storage, decorative, quilting, heirloom and lettering. It also uses the electronic speed control.

The 7470 would be suited to a sewer that has not used a sewing machine in the past or someone that is more experienced that needs a machine with more than the options available on other machine brands at a similar price point. We like the navigation to select stitches and lettering. It uses a simple centre key to "select" and four arrow keys for moving. One of our images show a closer view of the control panel. See that the most used utility stitches that can be selected, and from there, the lesser used patterns can be selected using the arrow and "select" centre key.

The latest version Singer 7470, as previously mentioned uses an electronic foot speed control. This means that when coming to a thicker triple or quadruple seam, you don't need to speed up as on lesser sewing machines.

Singer Confidence 7470 will give the needle full penetration power even at very slow and controllable speeds. Good for multiple quilting layers or repairing jeans or heavy work-ware. Slow and steady reverse stitch setting allows you to change direction at the press of a button to reinforce seams.

No need to worry about thread tension when using the 7470, it has an AUTO top thread setting. Out of the box, it will be set to AUTO, personally I would just leave it at that. Start sewing and let the machine do its job and control the top thread. It can even be set to tie-off at the end of a seam, as well as the regular reverse sewing function.

As well as the simple lay-in threading paths, you can use the built-in needle threader for threading the machine needle in a flash. You should be able to see the sewing area well thanks to the LED lights.
